Honduran Lempira

The Honduran lempira is the currency of Honduras. The banknotes are printed on paper. The Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) is responsible for issuing the Honduran banknotes. The Honduras lempira is the only currency accepted in Honduras, however the US dollar is often used on the Bay Islands and businesses near tourist resorts typically at poor exchange rates. The currency is named after a 16th-century Honduran ruler who fought against Spanish conquistador forces.
