The Argentine peso is the currency of Argentina. The banknotes are printed on paper. The Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) is responsible for issuing the Argentine banknotes.
In 2016, the BCRA began the circulation of its new family of banknotes in an effort to represent animals in different regions of the Argentine Republic. A main feature of this change was to encourage people to look at the banknotes in a new light and raise awareness about environmental preservation. These banknotes are projected to continue being introduced until 2018.
