Cambodian Riel

The Cambodian riel is the currency of Cambodia. The banknotes are printed on paper. National Bank of Cambodia is responsible for issuing the Cambodian banknotes. In 1975 The National Bank of Cambodia was closed due to the Khmer Rouge regime. The building was destroyed, the banking system collapsed, and the use of Khmer riel notes was eliminated. Since then, the National Bank of Cambodia was able to reissue riel into circulation and Cambodia has become one of the strongest growing economies in the world.
