The Qatari riyal is the currency of Qatar. The banknotes are printed on paper material. The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) is responsible for issuing the Qatari banknotes.
The Qatari riyal is pegged to the US Dollar. Prior to Qatar establishing a formal currency, the country used the Gulf rupee and later the Saudi riyal. Eventually, Qatar replaced the Dubai riyal and in 1973, officially implemented the Qatari riyal.
