The Egyptian pound is the currency of Egypt. The banknotes are printed on paper. The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is responsible for issuing the Egyptian banknotes.
Egypt has taken measures to prevent counterfeiting as early as 1930, when watermarks were introduced to the banknotes. The Egyptian pound also features English and Hindu Arabic numbers on one side of the banknote and Arabic texts with Eastern Arabic numbers on the other.
