The Jordanian dinar is the currency of Jordan. The banknotes are printed on paper. The Central Bank of Jordan is responsible for issuing the Jordanian banknotes.
The Jordan dinar replaced the Palestinian pound as the official currency of Jordan in 1949 and is currently pegged to the US dollar. The Central Bank of Jordan replaced the Jordanian Monetary Council and although it is owned by the Jordanian government, it operates with an independent legal personality.
