Our exchange rates are locked in every weekday at our branches around 8 am EST. The rate shown when you make the online reservation is the exchange rate of that day, so it is good for that day only. The exchange rate you pay will be that of the day when you actually pick up and pay for the currency. The indication rate gives you a good reference point as currency exchange rates typically move less than 3% day to day.

The Mexican peso is the currency of Mexico. Our records show the Mexican peso is the sixth most traded currency with us. The banknotes have both a paper banknote and polymer (plastic) banknote series in circulation. The Banco de Mexico is responsible for issuing the Mexican banknotes. The Banco de Mexico’s goal is to preserve the value of the Mexican peso in an effort to improve the economic well-being of Mexicans. Mexico replaced the original peso with the nuevo peso, which was introduced in 1993. Many banknotes current and old series notes can look similar, so never accept notes with “El Banco de Mexico” written on it, only accept “Banco de Mexico” notes. The word pesos means “weights” in English and refers to gold or silver weights.
